It's 15% of your monthly salary credit (MSC). As an employee, you pay 5% and your employer pays 10%. Your employer also pays P10 or P30 a month for Employees' Compensation (EC). If you're self-employed, a voluntary member or an OFW, you pay the whole 15% yourself.
This is the schedule that took effect in January 2025 under the Social Security Act of 2018 (RA 11199), and it still applies: on 7 October 2026, SSS's circulars page listed five circulars for 2026, and none of them touched contributions.
RA 11199 set the MSC at P5,000 to P35,000 from 2025. SSS works out regular benefits on the first P20,000, and its circular says the part above P20,000 goes to the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF), credited to your own account.

Find the row your monthly salary falls in. The "You pay" column is the SSS line on your payslip. Each row is P500 wide, and its MSC sits in the middle: a salary of P17,750 to P18,249.99 has an MSC of P18,000.
Example: you earn P18,000 a month. You pay P900. Your employer pays P1,800, plus P30 for EC. The total is P2,730.
Above P20,000, the circular's table charges the same 5% and 10% on the MPF part. At P25,000, you pay P1,250 and your employer pays P2,530, for a total of P3,780.

P3,030 a month. You pay P1,000 and your employer pays P2,030, which includes P30 for EC.
P5,280 a month for employees, at an MSC of P35,000: you pay P1,750 and your employer pays P3,530. Self-employed members pay P5,280 too. Voluntary members and OFWs pay P5,250.
P760 a month for an employee: P250 from you and P510 from your employer. Voluntary members pay P750, and OFWs P1,200.

It's the part of your MSC above P20,000. SSS puts it in your own account and pays out what you put in plus what it earned, when you retire, become permanently and totally disabled, or die.
