Skills employers ask for

What the interview asks

  1. Why do you want to work in safety? Share a real reason, like a past accident or a wish to protect workers.
  2. What would you do if a worker refused to wear PPE? Explain the risk calmly, give a reminder, then report it if they still refuse.
  3. How do you investigate an accident? Secure the area, help the injured, find the cause, then write a report and a fix.
  4. What hazards have you seen on a worksite? Give one real example and say how it was fixed.

The questions every interview asks, with sample answers

How to get hired

  1. Most posts ask for a college degree, often in engineering, industrial safety or a related course.
  2. Many employers want proof of safety training and some site experience, so ask what they require.
  3. Prepare your resume, a valid ID, NBI clearance, a medical certificate and your SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG and TIN numbers.
  4. Apply online or through the company's career page, then expect an interview about hazards and accident response.
  5. Be ready to visit the site and talk through what you would check first.

What the work is like

You walk the site often, in heat, noise and dust, and you wear PPE all day. The hard part is telling people to stop an unsafe job when they're in a hurry.
