Questions
Should my VA resume be one page or two?
Two pages at most, and one is enough if you've worked under five years. Put your summary, hours and skills at the top, where a client starts reading.
Should I put a photo on my resume?
No, leave it off. It makes the file bigger and tells a client nothing about your work. If a listing's apply form wants a photo, it has its own upload box.
Should I send it as a PDF or a Word file?
PDF, unless the listing asks for Word. A PDF looks the same on every screen. Our apply form takes PDF, DOC or DOCX files up to 10 MB.
What do I put if this is my first VA job?
Put the work that's closest to it: BPO or customer service, office admin, a family business or a school org. Add numbers where you can, like calls a day or orders handled, and list your courses under Training.
How do I change my resume for each listing?
Read what the listing asks for and use its words for the skills and tools you've really used. Move the job that fits best to the top, and change the first line of your summary to match the role.
Do I need a cover letter?
Only when a listing asks for one. Then keep it under 200 words and use the template on this page. DayShift's apply form usually asks a shorter question instead, why you're a good fit, and two or three sentences answer it.
