What the interview asks
Why do you want to work as a concierge? Say you enjoy helping people and name something real, like the hotel's location or guests.
What would you do if a guest asked for something you don't know? Say you'd find the answer fast, ask a coworker or your manager, and get back to the guest.
How do you handle an upset guest? Listen first, say sorry, fix the problem and tell your supervisor if needed.
Can you work weekends, holidays and night shifts? Answer honestly, because hotels plan the roster around it.
Most posts ask for at least a senior high school diploma, and many prefer a hospitality or tourism course.
Prepare a resume, a valid ID, NBI clearance and your SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG and TIN numbers.
Apply in person at the hotel or online through its career page or a job site.
Expect an interview, and sometimes a short test of your English and customer service.
Be ready to bring a medical certificate once you pass the interview.
What the work is like
You stand or walk most of the shift, and you're the first person guests come to for help. Check-in and check-out times are busy, and some guests are hard to please.
Questions
Do I need experience to work as a concierge?
Not always. Some hotels hire fresh graduates and train you, but front desk or service experience helps.
Is concierge work part-time?
Most concierge jobs are full-time with rotating shifts. Part-time posts are rare.
What should I study to become a concierge?
Hospitality management, tourism or business courses help. Good English and customer service matter most.
