What the interview asks
Why do you want to be a travel consultant? Share a real reason, like planning trips for family or loving to help people travel.
A customer wants a trip that is over their budget. What do you do? Ask what matters most, then offer two or three cheaper options.
What would you do if a customer's flight was cancelled? Stay calm, contact the airline, offer rebooking options and keep the customer updated.
Which destinations do you know well, and how would you learn about a new one? Name a few places honestly, then say you'd read supplier guides and ask your team.
Most posts ask for at least a senior high school diploma, and many prefer a college course like tourism, hospitality or business.
Prepare a resume, a valid ID and your government numbers like SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG and TIN.
Apply online or at travel agency offices. Some agencies also take walk-in applicants.
Expect an interview and sometimes a short test on booking, geography or customer handling.
Ask about training. Many agencies teach their booking system on the job.
What the work is like
You sit at a desk or counter and talk to customers by phone, chat and in person. The hard part is busy travel seasons, when changes and cancellations pile up and customers are stressed.
