How to enroll in TESDA online courses for free, step by step

TESDA online courses are free. How to enroll in five steps, which courses fit remote VA work, what the certificate gets you, and the fees to refuse.

Is a TESDA online course really free?

Yes. The TESDA Online Program (TOP), at e-tesda.gov.ph, is TESDA's own course site. TESDA describes it as "a web-based platform that offers free Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for the technical education and skills development of the Filipino workers." Its FAQ is just as clear: "There is no tuition fee required in accessing the courses."

You study at your own pace, on the website or on the TOP mobile app. Once you've enrolled in a course, the app lets you download it and study offline, which helps when your data runs low.

How to enroll in a TESDA online course

These steps are from TESDA's own How To page:

  1. Go to e-tesda.gov.ph and click Log in.
  2. Under "Is this your first time here?", click New Account.
  3. Fill in the form (the fields marked with an asterisk are required), then click "Create my new account".
  4. Open the email TESDA sends you and click the link inside to activate your account.
  5. Log in, open the course you want, then the module, and click "Enrol me in this course", then Yes.

Each course is split into modules, and you enroll in each module you want to take. On a phone, the TOP app needs Android 5.1 or iOS 11 or later, and TESDA lists a minimum of 8 GB of free storage and 4 GB of RAM.

Which TESDA course fits the remote job you want?

We searched TESDA's course list for the skills remote clients ask for, and these fit, by role. The full catalogue is on TESDA's course page.

When we searched TESDA's online catalogue on 7 October 2026, it had no video editing course, and a search for "virtual assistant" found no course either. The closest module is Translating Concepts into Multimedia Contents, in Content Creation. Our video editor guide covers the free editing software and how to build a portfolio with no clients.

What does a TESDA certificate get you?

TESDA's FAQ explains it: "You will get a Certificate of Completion once you finish the course and if you think you are ready, then you may take the face-to-face assessment for National Certification at any TESDA accredited assessment center or venue."

So the online course gets you a Certificate of Completion, which shows you finished it. A National Certificate (NC) is a different thing: you only get one by passing that face-to-face assessment.

Neither one gets you a job by itself. We read the 31 roles open on DayShift on 7 October 2026, and none asked for a TESDA certificate, or for any certificate, course or degree. 27 of the 31 asked for experience instead, like two years of video editing or inbox and calendar work.

So after each course, make a small sample of the work, like five social media posts for a local shop or a trial balance in Google Sheets. Put the link at the top of your CV, where a client sees it first.

How to spot a fake TESDA training fee

TESDA says its online courses have no tuition fee, so on our reading, anyone who asks you to pay to take one isn't TESDA. Watch for these:
