Skills employers ask for

What the interview asks

  1. Why do you want to work as a housekeeper? Be honest. Say you like keeping places clean and you take pride in neat work.
  2. Can you work weekends, holidays and early shifts? Answer honestly, because hotels need staff when guests check out.
  3. What would you do if you found money or a phone in a guest room? Say you would not touch it more than needed and hand it to your supervisor right away.
  4. How do you clean a room when you're behind schedule? Say you follow the same order every time and ask your team for help if needed.

Questions

Do I need experience to work as a housekeeper?

Not always. Many hotels and condos train new housekeepers, especially if you show you're neat, honest and on time.

Is housekeeping part-time or full-time?

Both exist. Most hotels hire full-time staff, and some hire extra part-time help during busy seasons.

What should I study to become a housekeeper?

You don't need a degree. A short TESDA course like Housekeeping NC II can help you stand out.
