  1. Why do you want to work as a domestic helper? Give an honest reason, like supporting your family, and say you take the work seriously.
  2. What household tasks are you best at? Name two or three, like cooking or childcare, and give a real example.
  3. Are you okay living in your employer's home and working with a family? Answer honestly, and ask about the room, rest days and house rules.
  4. What would you do if you broke something or made a mistake? Say you would tell your employer right away and learn from it.

How to get hired

  1. Most posts ask that you can do cleaning, laundry and basic cooking, and some want childcare or elder care.
  2. Prepare a resume, a valid ID, NBI clearance, a medical certificate and your SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG and TIN numbers.
  3. TESDA offers a national certificate for this work: Domestic Work NC II. Getting it can help your application.
  4. Going abroad through an agency? The DMW says household service workers must submit TESDA's Domestic Work NC II and be at least 24 years old.
  5. Apply through a licensed agency or a trusted referral, then expect an interview about your skills and your attitude toward the family.
