What to put in each part of your architect resume

Objective
One sentence on the job you want and what you bring. If it fits you, adapt this one: Licensed architect with strong drafting and modelling skills, looking for a design role where I can turn client needs into clear, buildable plans.
Licence and certificates
Your PRC licence and its number, right under your objective. Working as an architect needs a PRC licence: pass the Licensure Examination for Architects, which asks for a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and at least two years of experience certified by a licensed architect.
Skills
Four or five the job post asks for and you've really used, like autoCAD and Revit drafting, or three-dimensional modelling and rendering.
Work experience
Newest job first. Under each one, three to five lines that start with what you did, with a number where you can: projects, floors and site visits.
Education
Your school, what you finished and the year. Fresh graduate? Put it above work experience.

How to write your architect resume: fill in this template

  1. Replace every line in [brackets]. Delete a section you can't fill.
  2. Put your PRC licence near the top, under your objective.
  3. Keep it to one page if you've worked under five years.

Then save it as a PDF and apply. Download the Word file

How to write an architect resume without experience

No architecture job yet? Put your education first, then your thesis and design studio projects where work experience would go. Name the building type, the software you used and the size of the project. Internship or OJT at a firm counts too, so say where.

Architect resume questions

Where does my PRC licence go on an architect resume?

Right under your objective, so a firm sees it first. Write the licence, its number and the month you passed the Licensure Examination for Architects.

What do I write if I haven't passed the licensure exam yet?

Working as an architect needs a PRC licence, and the exam asks for at least two years of experience certified by a licensed architect. Until then, lead with your degree, your best design projects and the work you've done under a licensed architect.

Should I put my birthday or a photo on it?

Leave your birthday off. Since 2016, Republic Act 10911 has made it unlawful for employers in the Philippines to require your age or birth date while you apply. Leave the photo off too, unless the job post asks for one.

Should I send it as a PDF or a Word file?

PDF, unless the job post asks for Word. A PDF looks the same on every screen. Put your name in the file name, like Camille-Ocampo-Resume.pdf.
