What to put in each part of your civil engineer resume
Objective
One sentence on the job you want and what you bring. If it fits you, adapt this one: Licensed civil engineer with site and AutoCAD experience, looking for a role where I can support project design and construction work and grow with a strong team.
Licence and certificates
Your PRC licence and its number, right under your objective. Working as a civil engineer needs a PRC licence: pass the Civil Engineers Licensure Examination, which asks for a degree in civil engineering.
Skills
Four or five the job post asks for and you've really used, like reading and preparing plans and drawings, or using AutoCAD and Excel.
Work experience
Newest job first. Under each one, three to five lines that start with what you did, with a number where you can: sites, projects and drawings.
Education
Your school, what you finished and the year. Fresh graduate? Put it above work experience.
How to write your civil engineer resume: fill in this template
Replace every line in [brackets]. Delete a section you can't fill.
Put your PRC licence near the top, under your objective.
Keep it to one page if you've worked under five years.

How to write a civil engineer resume without experience
No engineering job yet? Put your education first, then your OJT or school projects where work experience would go. Name the firm or site, what you built or drew, and the tools you used, like AutoCAD. Add your PRC licence lines only if you have passed the exam.

Civil engineer resume questions
Where does my PRC licence go on a civil engineer resume?
Put it right under your objective so employers see it first. Working as a civil engineer needs a PRC licence from passing the Civil Engineers Licensure Examination.
What do I write if I haven't passed the licensure exam yet?
Working as a civil engineer needs a PRC licence. Until you pass the Civil Engineers Licensure Examination, lead with your degree and your OJT or school projects, and write the month you'll take the exam.
What goes first on a civil engineer resume?
Start with your objective, then your licence if you have one. Put your most recent site job next, with your strongest bullets first.
Should I put my birthday or a photo on it?
Leave your birthday off. Since 2016, Republic Act 10911 has made it unlawful for employers in the Philippines to require your age or birth date while you apply. Leave the photo off too, unless the job post asks for one.
Should I send it as a PDF or a Word file?
PDF, unless the job post asks for Word. A PDF looks the same on every screen. Put your name in the file name, like Paolo-Enriquez-Resume.pdf.
