What the interview asks
Why do you want to work in patient care? Share a real reason, like caring for a relative, and keep it short.
Can you work night shifts, weekends and holidays? Answer honestly, because hospitals and care homes run all day and night.
What would you do if a patient refused to eat or bathe? Stay calm and polite, try again gently, then tell the nurse.
What would you do if you noticed a patient looked worse than before? Say you would stay with the patient and report to the nurse immediately.
Most posts ask for a nursing, caregiving or health-related course or training. Some accept senior high school graduates and train you on the job.
Prepare your resume, valid ID, NBI clearance, medical certificate and government numbers such as SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG and TIN.
Apply online or in person at the hospital, clinic or care home HR office.
Expect an interview and sometimes a health check before you start.
What the work is like
You're on your feet most of the shift, lifting, walking and helping patients. Shifts rotate, and the hardest part is staying patient and caring when the ward is busy.
