Duties to write on your resume

Start each line with what you did. Keep the ones you've really done.

A resume objective you can adapt

Engineering graduate looking for a sales engineer job, ready to explain technical products clearly and help customers find the right solution.

Skills employers ask for

What the interview asks

  1. Why do you want to be a sales engineer and not only a salesperson or an engineer? Say you like both: solving technical problems and talking to people.
  2. How would you explain a technical product to a customer who is not technical? Use a simple example from daily life and avoid jargon.
  3. What would you do if a customer asked something you could not answer? Be honest, say you'll check with the team and follow up quickly.
  4. Tell me about a time you helped someone choose a solution. Give one real story: the problem, what you suggested, what happened.

The questions every interview asks, with sample answers

How to get hired

  1. Most posts ask for a bachelor's degree in engineering, IT or a related course.
  2. Prepare a resume, a valid ID and your government numbers, such as SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG and TIN.
  3. Apply on company career pages or job sites, and add a short cover note about your technical and customer skills.
  4. Expect an interview with HR and often a technical or product demo task.
  5. Some employers may ask for NBI clearance and a medical certificate once you pass the interview.

What the work is like

You split your time between customer meetings, demos and office work like proposals. The hard part is knowing the product well and still explaining it simply.
